Our History

After 2 years of research & development, including a Ministry of Health funded 6 week trial evaluation, MedTV Ltd. launched an analog "hardcopy" service of the MedTV Health Promotion programme on July 31st 2003. At that time the launch network consisted of 35 medical centres in the Auckland and Northland regions. By late November the same year MedTV Hardcopy was nationwide with a network of 85 host screening sites stretching from northland's Kaitaia to Gore in the deep south.

2006 saw the introduction of MedTV Digital to the existing network and to new clients. April 30th 2007 MedTV Digital was launched to be New Zealand's first Health and Wellness IPTV narrowcast Channel. Our business development has focused on establishing the digital system while continuing to offer MedTV Hardcopy to areas of the country that may not yet have the technical support for and to clients going through the transitional upgrade to MedTV Digital.

MedTV is a health promotion and education service dedicated to communicating positive and informative health & wellbeing lifestyle messages to health focused audiences in health focused environments throughout New Zealand.

Unique to the health sector MedTV has a place in every health environment - whether Family Medical Centre, A&M, Hospital, Community or Marae based. Where ever the need, MedTV serves to promote health & wellbeing for all New Zealanders.

The MedTV team is committed to reducing health inequalities by improving awareness and positively effecting behaviour of all New Zealanders now and in the future through quality health promotion programming and production by the means of internet protocol TV (IPTV), interactive touchscreen technology, audio-video DVD/VHS/CD-Rom production.

Our vision is to provide a premium narrowcast television service for the health sector Australasia-wide.
