MedTV New Zealand's original waiting room channel

MedTV pioneered the waiting room channel concept in 2003. Following a positive evaluation of MedTV in 2002, funded by the Ministry of Health, a monthly health education and health promotion video-magazine for patients and visitors, started screening in medical waiting rooms throughout New Zealand.

The digital era

MedTV laid solid foundations for its fully featured IPTV platform - a proven narrowcast programming package, presented on large flat screens. Content for each screen can be managed individually, so enormous possibilities open up for localised and customised programming, sponsorship and advertising. Reporting and logging of each transmission also provides real measurement of delivery. With over 120 locations signed up the MedTV audience will reach more than 400,000 viewers per month during 2008.

MedTV goes fully interactive

In a unique blend of technologies, the MedTV Digital system includes the use of a touch screen computer in the waiting room to enhance and complement the MedTV channel. Direct experience of a very successful project for the National Screening Unit is one of the starting points for this exclusive health promotion resource. A number of content partnerships are already in place
